  • On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, IBM is launching IBM SkillsBuild, which brings together two world-class, skills-based learning programs—"Open P-TECH" and "SkillsBuild"—under one brand. Through IBM SkillsBuild, students, educators, job seekers, and the organizations that support them can access free digital learning, resources, and support focused on the core technology and workplace skills needed to succeed in "new collar" jobs. They'll be able to visit the new IBM SkillsBuild website and opt into the learning experience that's right for them.
  • "Open P-TECH" is now "IBM SkillsBuild for Students and Educators". This name change reflects IBM's overall objective of supporting learners in building essential technology and workplace skills no matter where they are in their career journey, whether secondary student, educator or job seeker.
  • No. After the rebrand launches on Wednesday, July 7th, any badges or certificates you've already earned will be updated automatically. You can expect to see new badges with updated "IBM SkillsBuild" branding in your wallet soon after launch.
  • You'll be able to log in to IBM SkillsBuild for Students and Educators (formerly called Open P-TECH) from the new IBM SkillsBuild website. The only change is that you'll want to select your specific program: IBM SkillsBuild for Students or IBM SkillsBuild for Educators. Then, you'll be able to use the same log-in method or user name and password you've always used. Logging in will take you to the same digital platform, with all of your information, learning progress, recommendations, etc.—it'll just have a refreshed look and new name.

  • The current Open P-TECH website will automatically redirect to the new IBM SkillsBuild website. You'll be able to access all up-to-date program and platform information from this website, as well as log in to your IBM SkillsBuild for Students and Educators (formerly called Open P-TECH) account.
  • You'll be able to log in to IBM SkillsBuild for Students and Educators (formerly called Open P-TECH) from the new IBM SkillsBuild website. The only change is that you'll want to select your specific program: IBM SkillsBuild for Students or IBM SkillsBuild for Educators. Then, you'll be able to use the same log-in method or user name and password you've always used. Logging in will take you to the same digital platform, with all of your information, learning progress, recommendations, etc.—it'll just have a refreshed look and new name. Anyone will be able to sign up for IBM SkillsBuild on the new website. Adults (18+) will have an additional option to join a IBM SkillsBuild for Job Seekers.
